Alright alright alright. Let’s
do this! It’s been a while since my last post, so let me get started with the
updates. I did graduate high school. A did go to UAA. It cost a butt load of
money and caused me a lot of stress, but I had so much fun when I was there! I
made lots of friends and I had an amazing job where I could make even more friends.
Even though I miss it like crazy sometimes, I have to remind myself that UAA is
neither what I really want, nor what I really need.
So, after my sister
graduated, we worked at home for the summer. Blah. But, yay, money! Since then, Kelsey and I began a new adventure.
We are traveling the U.S.! It feels like we’re spending a lot of money, and we
kind of are, but it’s costing less than my freshman year at UAA, so I’m not
having any regrets here. We started out in Enumclaw, Washington, visiting my
dad’s side of the family, which is where I turned 20 years old! From there we
went to Vegas with the HelpX Program. Big mistake. Two innocent, Alaskan girls
in Sin City in early September. Let me tell you, not one of our best ideas. Anyways, after staying with our grandma for a while longer, and trying to set up some semblance of a plan, we made a decision. We didn’t need a plan. We just needed to do something. So we took a train to Salem, Oregon and explored a new city. And we’ve been going ever since! We love it! Not only are we enjoying the sights of each place and learning as we go, we are reveling in our new found freedom that would never have been possible in our rural community back home.
We have wonderfully exciting days, sight-seeing and getting lost in a city where we are completely and utterly unknown and unnoticed. Days where our feet ache, and our hair and clothes are saturated with the smells of the city. And we have fabulously lazy days, when the most exciting thing we do is try a new kind of food. And then there are our travel days, which is a different sort of adventure all on its own. It is simply amazing! We are definitely learning a lot about ourselves as well, but more details about all that in a later post. I’m done for now. :)
I love it!
