Update

Alright alright alright. Let’s do this! It’s been a while since my last post, so let me get started with the updates. I did graduate high school. A did go to UAA. It cost a butt load of money and caused me a lot of stress, but I had so much fun when I was there! I made lots of friends and I had an amazing job where I could make even more friends. Even though I miss it like crazy sometimes, I have to remind myself that UAA is neither what I really want, nor what I really need.
So, after my sister graduated, we worked at home for the summer. Blah. But, yay, money! Since then, Kelsey and I began a new adventure. We are traveling the U.S.! It feels like we’re spending a lot of money, and we kind of are, but it’s costing less than my freshman year at UAA, so I’m not having any regrets here. We started out in Enumclaw, Washington, visiting my dad’s side of the family, which is where I turned 20 years old! From there we went to Vegas with the HelpX Program. Big mistake. Two innocent, Alaskan girls in Sin City in early September. Let me tell you, not one of our best ideas.

Anyways, after staying with our grandma for a while longer, and trying to set up some semblance of a plan, we made a decision. We didn’t need a plan. We just needed to do something. So we took a train to Salem, Oregon and explored a new city. And we’ve been going ever since! We love it! Not only are we enjoying the sights of each place and learning as we go, we are reveling in our new found freedom that would never have been possible in our rural community back home.

We have wonderfully exciting days, sight-seeing and getting lost in a city where we are completely and utterly unknown and unnoticed. Days where our feet ache, and our hair and clothes are saturated with the smells of the city. And we have fabulously lazy days, when the most exciting thing we do is try a new kind of food. And then there are our travel days, which is a different sort of adventure all on its own. It is simply amazing! We are definitely learning a lot about ourselves as well, but more details about all that in a later post. I’m done for now. :)

I'm Back!

So, even though the whopping two posts I made the very first month I made this thing is probably all the insight into my amazing and mind blowing thought process anyone can handle EVER, my best friend reminded me that I have a blog, and that I should be posting my profound words for the viewing pleasure of the whooooole world. And I will. So expect greatness. :)

Dreams are...amazing!

I've been thinking a lot lately about dreams...they really are spectacular! When I talk to someone and they say they never remember their dreams, I genuinly feel bad for them. It's one of those little things that make a really big difference in life! Every night I go to bed and get to watch a brand new movie that actually feels real in that moment...how amazing is that? And it didn't come from a screen-writer, or a director, but from my own mind. The fact that a person can create something so extraordinary, without even trying, is taken for granted far too often.

Something I learned just recently is that the human mind can't create new faces when sleeping. This means that any face we see, even for a split second, can be saved to use later in a dream. You could walk through an airport, see a face and forget it instantly. But even though you have forgotten it, your brain can hold onto the image and use it later to liven up your sleepy state. It almost seems that way with places too. When I think about dreams, they seem to be a combination of several different places. Last night my dream place was part South Beach, part Chignik Lake, and part of my home, but somehow I interpreted it as a school trip, specifically prom, at Newhalen school. Weird isn't it?

I can't really say what it's like for other people, but I can remember my dreams with such clarity that I'm still thinking about it days later, and it's something that no one else in the world can ever experience. It's something completely mine, and no matter how hard I try to explain it to anyone else, they will not understand it.

This us just another example of how complicated and unfathomable the human brain is. It really is the most complex kind of technology we never knew how to use. Which is weird, because we would need to use our brains to figure out how to use it!

That's all for now. I hope you guys find this as interesting as I do, or at least begin thinking about the awesome-ness of it all. Thanks for reading!!

Have fun and be happy!! <3
